Richard Stallman, founder of the Free Software Foundation, and creator of GNU and the GPL, is being honoured by the Internet Hall of Fame by being added to the list of Innovators in this years awards. Innovators are defined as “individuals from around the world who have made significant contributions to the global growth and use of the Internet.”
Stallman talked about the award, and the work he still had to do: “Now that we have made the Internet work, the next task is to stop it from being a platform for massive surveillance, and make it work in a way that respects human rights, including privacy.”
