Red Hat announces pricing for OpenShift PaaS called MegaShift

by Rob Zwetsloot

Red Hat splits OpenShift into two versions, FreeShift and MegaShift, and announces pricing and details for MegaShift

The Red Hat Summit is on right now, but just before it the open-source giant announced its future plans for OpenShift, and how they will provide Enterprise-grade support. They’re doing this by splitting it up into two separate products – FreeShift, and MegaShift.

FreeShift is of course the free version, and is available right now as a rebranding of OpenShift. FreeShift will come with access to three gears, containers with set code that allow frameworks and components to come together and create an application. MegaShift will cost $42 a month (£30), as well as a charge for any extra gears used.

MegaShift will be coming later, although it’s not confirmed if it is this year or not.
