Raspberry Pi now ships with more RAM

by Rob Zwetsloot

The Raspberry Pi Model B has had its RAM doubled to 512MB, but will stay at its original price

The Raspberry Pi has obviously been a huge hit that has broken into mainstream, and the projects and hacks that can be seen on a daily basis with the tiny board have all been pretty awesome. One of the few things holding it back though for more general purpose computing has been the relatively small amount of RAM – but that’s now changed.

Starting from today, any unfulfilled or future orders for the Model B will come with 512 MB of RAM, and the best part is, the price is staying at the promised $35 (£22). A firmware update will be made available in the next couple of days so that the new boards will work, but the actual boards themselves will be showing up to folks from today.

It’s an exciting time for the Raspberry Pi, and it keeps getting better.
