openSUSE Summit 2012 Call for Papers deadline extended

by Rob Zwetsloot

New Deadline for openSUSE Summit papers to coincide with SUSECon’s Call for Papers, and more information about the Summit has been released

The upcoming openSUSE Summit, taking in place in sunny Orlando, Florida, was meant to have a Call for Papers (CfP) deadline last week. If you missed the chance and still want to submit something, don’t worry, as the team has decided to extend the deadline until next week, 30th June. The move comes in relation to SUSECon starting their own CfP, prompting the Summit team to try and keep in sync with it.

The CfP is bi-lingual, with both English and Spanish entries being accepted. The Summit currently has three main topics: openSUSE Community, openSUSE Tech, and open World. The team will accept proposals about other subjects though, so don’t hesitate to submit one.

Don't worry, Vanilla Ice will not be attending. As far as we know

In other news regarding the Summit, a few sessions have already been locked down. As well as workshops on packaging, and introductions from FOSS communities, there will also be an openSUSE Deployment Panel, and a night time pool party.

Registration is also open, with prompt registration gaining free admission to the last day of SUSECon on 21st September, which just so happens to be the first day for the Summit. Luckily, they’re both in Orlando. If you’re really early registering, the first 50 people will get a gift, which is hinted to be a SUSE Gecko/Chameleon plush toy.

The openSUSE Summit 2012 is being held between 21st and 23rd of September.
