Get the latest, greatest Linux Mint, now with even more community loved desktop environments

Linux Mint 13 has been out for just over a month, with the standard version for the first time coming with Cinnamon or MATE as default – two more classic takes on the traditional desktop metaphor. While we rave about Cinnamon, it is relatively new, and some folks might be looking forward to the KDE versions for a similar environment that they’re used to.

KDE 4.8 comes with the KDE flavour of Linux Mint 13

Following the recent released of the XFCE edition a couple of days ago, today the Linux Mint developers announced the released of the KDE flavour of the Ubuntu-based distro. Coming with the very latest KDE 4.8 desktop, Linux Mint KDE has better power management, a new display engine, along with the same great backgrounds and questionable search engine choices that the original version has. XFCE is up to 4.10, which has a better application finder, and the inclusion of mintMenu and MATE applets to enhance the experience.

You can grab Linux Mint 13 KDE and XFCE now, separately, from the Linux Mint website, and our review of the base version can be found on the Linux User website.
