Knoppix 7.0 release begins now

by Rob Zwetsloot

The next major version of venerable Live Linux distro Knoppix is slowly making it’s way out the door over the next couple of days, includes some major updates to compatibility and performance

Knoppix 7.0 is being made available starting today, with attendees of CeBIT 2012 getting their hands on the distro after a presentation by creator Klaus Knopper. Knopper says the distribution will be available to download within the next few days, along with the release notes.

The new version is based on Debian “Wheezy”, and is built upon Linux Kernel 3.2.4. As always, it will come bundled with a lot of software, including LibreOffice 3.4.5, Firefox, Chromium, WINE, and many more.

A maintenance release is expected within another four weeks. LiveDVDs will be available in UTF-8 format.

      Thank you Klaus, Vielen Dank,
I have admired your distributions , and used them, of course, regularly for many years and have never been disappointed.
