GNOME 3.8 development enters String Freeze with Beta 2

by Rob Zwetsloot

The second beta of the next GNOME Shell’s development has been released slightly late, and is now available for testing

GNOME 3.8 is on its way, and the final beta version of the software has been released. GNOME 3.8 Beta 2, or more officially GNOME 3.7.91, has generally just seen updates to all major core components and apps, however the development process has just entered String Freeze. This means that any strong changes will have to be confirmed by the l10n team.

The next development version, RC1, is scheduled to be released next week, with the final, full version planned to be out by the end of the month. You can download 3.7.91 from the official sources website.
